    1. "I CANT TELL YOU WHERE i AM AT AND THIS LETTER IS READ BEFORE YOU GET IT SO i DON'T WANT TO SAY MUCH.  i AM OK...."
    2. 22 SEPTEMBER 1945 (JUST AFTER END OF WAR), "THE PICTURE TONIGHT IS 'DIAMOND HORSESHOE,' WITH BETTY GRABLE.  WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE ROCK ENIWETOK?  THAT IS ONE PLACE I WOULDN'T WANT TO BE STATIONED.  IT WAS THERE FOR ABUT TWO HOURS AND THAT WAS ENOUGHT.  I SPEND ABOUT A WEEK ON KWAJALEIN WHICH ISN'T MUCH NICER....  IN CASE YOU DON'T KNOW IT, TINIAN HAS THE GRETEST MILITRY AIRDROME IN THE WORLD.  THERE MUST BE CLOSE TO 500 B-29S HERE.  THE SKY WAS LIT UP LIKE A HIGHWAY WHEN THEY WERE COMING IN AND GOING OUT....  IF THINGS GO WELL I MIGHT MAKE IT BY FEBRUARY (DISCHARGED).  I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING OUR BASKETBALL TEAM TOGETHER AGAIN...."
