MARCIANO
(1923-1969, born
Rocco Francis Marchegiano in Brockton, Massachusetts
)
won the world heavyweight boxing title on May 15, 1952,
beating Jersey Joe Walcott with a 13th round knockout, and
successfully defended it six times.
The winner of 49 consecutive fights, 43 by knockout, Marciano always said that his toughest fight was his early victory over an aging Joe Louis, his childhood hero.
Legendary boxing trainer GOLDMAN
(1887-1968, born Israel Goldman in Warsaw, Poland) got his start in boxing at age 16 (
his first professional fight was reportedly declared a draw when the cops broke it up after 42 rounds
) and went on to a 61-27-23 record with 17 wins and 1 loss by knockout. He went on to become
the trainer to five World Champions:
middleweight Al McCoy, lightweight Lou Ambers, featherweight Joey Archibald, welterweight Marty Servo and
heavyweight Rocky Marciano.
Lightly
toned, foxed and creased. Marciano's signature has low contrast in places but is legible. Paper loss on verso with pinhole at right edge. Light tears at top, right and bottom edges. Light nicks at left edge. Folded twice horizontally and thrice vertically. Folds are worn. Pinhole were top and left fold meet. Light tears at top and bottom edge along left and center fold. Light nick at left edge along top fold. Otherwise in fine condition.

Shipping
