    Description

Found in Maine… an Early 19th Century MAINE Scrapbook, Newspaper Clips/Notes/Etc! Belonged to a : ESQ JT WOODWARD, from Maine
The book pages are literally filled with all sorts personal articles, obituaries (from Maine Civil War veterans?), miscellaneous notes written by the owner, some membership cards that belonged to him, personal letters written to him from different places, and local menus, current events during those years!
One letter from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries/Wildlife to him (see pic) is quite comical… his cat brought him a “dead” flying squirrel, and he sent it them, and they wrote back stating their thanks and that they were doing a taxidermy on the flying squirrel for display!
Pretty interesting reading.. if you can decipher some of his handwriting! The newspaper clippings are certainly legible though! He actually NUMBERED every page and there is a Glossary on the last pages with the names on the designated pages! The book binder is very ROUGH condition.. but still holding together! Missing front/rear covers.. and has a “slight” musty storage odor!
A nice collection of antique ephemera! Sold as is.
